How to Create Memoria Memory Circles

    Short answer

Open Memoria, tap Circles, hit the plus button, name your group, share the invite link on WhatsApp, and post photos. Free for 10,000+ memories.

Memory Circles are the heart of Memoria. They are private, invite-only groups where your family and friends share photos without algorithms, compression, or public profiles. If you searched how to create Memoria memory circles, this activation guide walks through every screen you will see on Android, described in text so you know what to expect before you open the app on Android or iPhone.

Whether you are setting up a Circle for your parents and siblings, a wedding group, or college friends reuniting after years, the flow is the same. Memoria is free for 10,000+ memories, so you can create as many Circles as your life has groups. No credit card, no storage quota anxiety.

What Memoria memory circles are and why they matter

A Memory Circle is a private photo space for a specific group of people. Think of it as a family album that every member can add to, but no outsider can see. Unlike WhatsApp groups where photos disappear into chat history, Circle photos stay organized, searchable, and full quality. Unlike Instagram Close Friends, Circles are not attached to a public profile or ad-driven feed.

Indian families often maintain separate mental groups: the WhatsApp family group, the cousins chat, the office friends trip thread. Memory Circles map to those real groups. When you learn how to create Memoria memory circles, you are giving each group a permanent home for photos instead of a temporary chat attachment.

Circles support photos, voice notes, and Events. Voice notes let elders describe a photo in Hindi or English without typing. Events group photos by occasion. AI search works inside Circles so you can type dadi ke ghar ki photos and find results. For the full feature breakdown, visit our circle photo app India page.

Before you create your first Memoria memory circle

Install Memoria from the Google Play Store on an Android phone. iOS is coming soon. You need a working phone number for verification. Grant gallery permission when asked so you can upload existing photos immediately after creating the Circle.

Decide the Circle purpose before you tap Create. A clear purpose makes naming easier and sets expectations for members. Family Circle for daily life and festivals. Wedding Circle for one specific celebration. Trip Circle for a group holiday. Avoid vague names like Photos because members will not know what belongs there.

Make a mental list of who to invite first. Start with five to fifteen active people. You can always add more later. Starting small keeps the Circle active in the first week, which matters more than inviting fifty relatives who never open the app.

If you are migrating from Google Photos, import your library before inviting everyone. See our migrate from Google Photos to Memoria guide for export and import steps.

Memoria onboarding: what each screen looks like

Welcome screen: After install, you see the Memoria logo, a tagline about Social Memory, and a Continue button. The background is warm and minimal. Tap Continue to reach phone verification.

Phone verification screen: Enter your Indian mobile number with country code +91. You receive an OTP within seconds. Enter the six digits. This screen also has a link to terms and privacy policy at the bottom.

Profile setup screen: Add your display name (what family sees) and an optional profile photo from gallery or camera. You can skip the photo and add it later from Profile tab.

Home screen: Three bottom tabs: Home, Circles, Profile. Home shows recent memories across all your Circles, quick actions for Add Photo and WhatsApp Gallery, and a prompt to create your first Circle if you have none yet. A floating action button sits bottom-right for fast uploads.

Circles tab (empty state): Before your first Circle, you see an illustration of people around photos, the text No Circles yet, and a prominent Create Circle button. This is where you tap to begin.

Understanding these screens before you create Memoria memory circles reduces confusion, especially if you are helping parents set up the app over a video call.

How to create Memoria memory circles step by step

Step 1 - Open Create Circle: Tap the Circles tab, then the plus icon. The Create Circle form slides up from the bottom with three fields and a Create button at the bottom.

Step 2 - Name your Circle: Type a name up to 40 characters. Examples: Sharma Family, Mumbai Maasi Side, IIT Batch 2015. The name appears at the top of the Circle feed for all members.

Step 3 - Choose an emoji: Tap the emoji circle left of the name field. A picker opens with categories: smileys, people, activities, objects. Families often pick a house, heart, or camera emoji. The emoji shows in the Circles list and invite preview.

Step 4 - Write a description: One or two sentences. Example: Photos from our family gatherings, festivals, and daily moments. Only members see this text. It appears below the Circle name on the Circle home page.

Step 5 - Tap Create: The Circle is live immediately. You land on the Circle home page showing an empty feed, an Invite banner at the top, and a camera button to add the first memory.

Step 6 - Optional cover photo: Tap the gray banner at the top of the Circle page. Select a photo from gallery. It crops to a wide header. Cover photos help members recognize the Circle in their list when they belong to many groups.

This is the core flow for how to create Memoria memory circles. The entire sequence from empty Circles tab to a live Circle takes under two minutes.

Inviting family to your Memoria memory circle

After creation, tap the Invite Members banner or the person-plus icon in the Circle header. Memoria generates a unique invite link formatted as memorias.in/invite followed by a code. The share sheet opens with WhatsApp, Messages, Copy Link, and other apps.

WhatsApp invite screen (what recipients see): The link preview shows the Circle name, emoji, and description. Tapping Open in App launches Memoria if installed, or the Play Store if not. After install, the app opens directly into the Circle join confirmation. One tap to Join Circle and they see the feed.

Write a short message with the link: I created our family photos on Memoria. Tap to join and see everything. For older relatives, a voice note on WhatsApp explaining the same thing dramatically improves join rates.

Circle Members screen (admin view): Tap the member count in the Circle header. You see a list with profile photos, names, and Admin badge on your account. Tap any member to remove them or promote to admin. Admins can invite others and change Circle settings.

Invite links expire after seven days for security. Generate a new link from Invite if someone missed the window. You can have multiple active links if needed for different subgroups joining the same Circle.

Posting your first memory inside a Circle

Tap the camera icon on the Circle feed. A bottom sheet offers: Take Photo, Choose from Gallery, Add Voice Note, Create Event. For your first post, choose Choose from Gallery and pick three to five strong photos: a recent festival, a family portrait, a candid moment.

Upload progress screen: Thumbnails appear with progress bars. Full resolution uploads on Wi-Fi. A checkmark appears on each thumbnail when done. Photos land in the Circle feed in the order uploaded, with your name and timestamp below each.

Add an optional caption in Hindi, English, or Hinglish. Captions are searchable later. Tap Post. Members receive a notification: New photos in Sharma Family. They open the app and see your post at the top of the feed.

Voice note screen: Hold the microphone button to record. Release to stop. Playback plays before posting. Voice notes attach to a photo or stand alone. Many Indian families use voice notes so grandparents explain who is in an old photo without typing.

First-post momentum matters. When new members join and see photos already there, they understand the purpose immediately. An empty Circle feels abandoned. Upload ten to twenty photos before mass-inviting if you have them ready.

    Managing multiple Memoria memory circles

Most active Memoria users belong to five or more Circles. You might admin two and member three. The Circles tab lists all of them with emoji, name, last activity time, and unread dot if new photos arrived.

Circles list screen: Sorted by recent activity. Pin important Circles by long-pressing and selecting Pin to Top. Search bar at the top filters by name when you have many groups.

Create separate Circles instead of one mega-group when privacy boundaries differ. Your spouse's family may not need to see college friend trip photos. Wedding vendors do not belong in the daily family Circle. Memoria makes splitting groups free and instant.

Cross-post a photo to multiple Circles from the share menu on any memory. Tap Share, select additional Circles, confirm. One upload, multiple audiences. Use this sparingly for truly shared moments like a new baby announcement.

Review Circle settings monthly. Archive Circles for completed events like a wedding. Active Circles stay at the top of everyone's list. Knowing how to create Memoria memory circles is the start; curating which Circles stay active is how the system stays useful for years.

Tips for a successful Memoria memory circle launch

Launch day timing: Send invites on a Sunday evening when families are relaxed. Avoid Monday morning when everyone is busy. Festival seasons see the highest join and post rates.

Seed content: Import old photos from gallery or Google Takeout before inviting. A Circle with fifty photos gets more engagement than an empty one.

Name a co-admin: Give a sibling or spouse admin rights so invites and moderation are not dependent on one person.

Use Events for big occasions: Create a Diwali 2025 Event inside the family Circle. Everyone adds photos to the Event. It stays browsable years later unlike WhatsApp forwards.

Connect WhatsApp Gallery: Pull photos from your family WhatsApp group into Memoria automatically. See the WhatsApp photo gallery app feature page for how this works.

Try Hinglish search: After a few dozen photos, test AI search with queries your family would actually say. Our Hinglish photo search guide lists example searches that work well.

You now know how to create Memoria memory circles from first install through a successful family launch. The app is free for 10,000+ memories. Create your Circle tonight and send the first invite before the week ends.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I create Memoria memory circles for the first time?

Open Memoria, go to the Circles tab, tap the plus button, enter a name and emoji, then tap Invite to share the link with family. The entire process takes under five minutes on Android.

How many memory circles can I create in Memoria?

There is no practical limit on the number of Circles you can create. Most families run three to six active Circles: core family, relatives, friends, and event-specific groups like a wedding or reunion.

Do all Circle members need to pay for Memoria?

No. Memoria is free for 10,000+ memories per account. Every invited member gets their own free account. No family member needs a subscription to view or add photos.

Can I create a Memoria memory circle without inviting anyone yet?

Yes. Create the Circle, upload photos, organize Events, and invite members later. Some people prefer to import their library first so relatives see a full album when they join.

What is the difference between a Circle and an Event in Memoria?

A Circle is a permanent group of people. An Event is a time-bound album inside a Circle or your personal library, like Diwali 2024 or Goa Trip. Create Circles for who, Events for when.

How do grandparents join a Memoria memory circle?

Send the invite link on WhatsApp. They tap it, install Memoria from the Play Store, and land directly in your Circle. Large text and simple navigation make the app accessible for older users.

Can I be in someone else's Circle without creating my own?

Yes. You can join unlimited Circles created by others and also create your own. Each Circle is independent. Photos in one Circle are invisible to members of another unless you share them.

How do I delete or leave a Memoria memory circle?

Circle admins can archive or delete a Circle from settings. Members can leave anytime from the Circle menu. Deleting a Circle removes it for all members, so confirm with the group first.
