    Wedding Photo Storage Calculator

How many photos will your wedding guests take, and how much storage do you need? Enter your guest count and your best guess for how many guests will upload. The calculator shows the total and which plans from Samaro, Kwikpic, TurtlePic and Google would fit. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

    Assumption: not every guest uploads.

Assumption: change it to match your crowd.

Phone photos are often 3 to 5 MB.

Assumption: depends on length and quality.

    Your estimate

    Uploading guests

    150

    Photos

    3,000

    Video clips

    150

    Storage needed

    22.0 GB

If twice as many photos and clips arrive, the need becomes about 43.9 GB, so leave some room. We count 1 GB as 1,024 MB.

    Which plans fit these numbers?

The table checks your estimate against each plan's listed storage, items, photo count and guest cap, as read from each company's own site in October 2026. Kwikpic counts photos only, so we do not know how it counts video. Samaro caps guests, so a plan can have enough storage and still be too small for your invite list.

    How the estimate works

Uploading guests are your invited guests times the share who upload. Photos are uploading guests times photos each, plus the photographer's set if you tick the box. Clips are uploading guests times clips each. Storage is photos times the average photo size plus clips times the average clip size. All the inputs are guesses you can change, and a small change in photos per guest or clip size moves the total a lot.

Use the file-size reference below to choose a photo size. If your guests will send photos through WhatsApp, read our WhatsApp photo compression guide: the copies are far smaller than the originals.

    FileRough size
Photo sent as a normal WhatsApp imageabout 0.3 MB
    Smartphone JPEG (12 MP)3 to 5 MB
iPhone HEIC photo2 to 4 MB

What to do with the number

    • Pick a plan with room above your estimate, because guests often send more than you expect.
    • Check the guest cap as well as the storage, and how long the album stays online.
    • Download the originals soon after the wedding and keep two copies in different places.
    • Compare the apps themselves in our wedding photo sharing apps guide.

    Frequently asked questions

How many photos do wedding guests take?▾

There is no reliable single figure. It depends on how many guests actually upload and how many photos each takes. The calculator lets you set both. The starting values (half the guests upload, 20 photos each) are assumptions, so replace them with your own guess.

How much storage does a wedding need?▾

With the starting values, which are 300 guests with half uploading 20 photos of 5 MB each and one 50 MB video clip each, the calculator shows about 22 GB. Change the numbers and the answer moves a lot, which is why we show the working.

    Should I include the photographer's edited photos?▾

Only if you plan to put them in the same album. Many photographers deliver their own gallery separately. Ask your photographer, and tick the box if you want the edited set counted.

    Does the calculator count video?▾

Yes. Short clips are usually far larger than photos, so they can decide which plan you need. Set clips per guest to 0 if you only want photos.

Why do my photos look smaller on WhatsApp?▾

WhatsApp compresses photos sent as ordinary images, so a copy is much smaller than the original. If you ask guests to share through a group, you will collect small copies. Our WhatsApp photo compression guide explains how to keep full quality.

Which wedding photo sharing app should I use?▾

See our wedding photo sharing apps comparison. It lists the main options for Indian weddings with plans read from each company's own site, and a longer list of questions to ask before you pick.

Are the plan details up to date?▾

They were read from each company's own site in October 2026. Plans change, and some pages disagree with themselves, so confirm on the company's site before you pay. Tell us if anything here is out of date.

Does this calculator keep my numbers?▾

No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent anywhere.
